About Me:
I grew up in the Keweenaw - the northern-most peninsula of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. (The Northwoods, God's Country, a land of ice and snow...) I love the outdoors, and dabble in a variety of activities from biking and hiking to skiing and ice skating.
I earned my undergraduate degree in math, a minor in physics and my teaching certificate from Michigan Technological University, and am now teaching calculus and physics at the Academy of the Sacred Heart (ASH) in Bloomfield Hills, MI. |
ASH is a K-12 independent catholic school that is co-ed until 5th grade. After that, we have two single-gender middle schools, and an all-girl upper school, which is where I teach. I find it really exciting to have the chance to get these young women involved with math and science and point them toward science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers.

I am a proud second-generation geek. I grew up watching Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica with my parents. From them I learned to love Asimov, Bradbury, Card, McCaffery, and other great authors, and I'm pretty sure that's why I ended up in math and science. There's something exciting about the possibilities shown in science fiction! |
I also love games and puzzles. I have a special weakness for Rock Band, cross word puzzles and cooperative board games. Here are a few of my favorite games:
